Our Mission

To reinvigorate the spirit of the Ngarigo tribe to a level equal to that experienced pre 1788

To provide a united voice for the Ngarigo Nation

To promote awareness and practise of Ngarigo Culture and Heritage.

To care for Ngarigo Country and restore her health through our special connection to the land and ancestors, through story, through advocacy and through modelling values and behaviours which assist non Ngarigo people to appreciate and connect to it 

To acknowledge and protect cultural sites

To develop and promote strong, inclusive community communication and education

To stand strong, speak clearly, and listen so we may act wisely in the advancement of the Ngarigo Nation

 

The objectives of the corporation are to assist in the relief of poverty, sickness, destitution, helplessness, distress, suffering, and misfortune of the Ngarigo and other Aboriginal People within the Ngarigo Nation, without discrimination and to include, but without limiting the generality of the above, the following:

Community

Operate community enterprises and build a strong financial base for community development activities and infrastructure.

Promote community development by acting as a resource for the community and stakeholders in the areas of education, health, housing, employment and welfare to the community.

Act as a clearinghouse to facilitate the exchange of information and skills, participation and maintenance of community development activities, community services, employment and housing for the community.

 

Members

Help and encourage its members to manage their affairs upon their own lands.

Help and encourage its members to keep and renew their traditional culture.

Help build trust and friendship between its members and other people.

 
 


Operations

We operate as a Not for Profit/Charity Organisation with proceeds obtained from State and Federal Government funding, donations from sponsors and private organisations, public donations and monies raised by our Corporation enterprises.

To operate and maintain a gift fund to be known as “Ngarigo Nation Indigenous Corporation Gift Fund” in accordance with requirements of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997

To recognise and preserve significant Cultural Heritage sites within the Ngarigo Nation.
